Update 9-26-05 on my recovery
September 27th, 2005 · No Comments
Not sure if I mentioned it the other day, but Thursday night, early Friday morning, my left foot (the on of the broken leg /knee became extremely swollen. I assume it was because of exertion. The doctors visit was the most movement I had done since the accident. Well, extended long term movement.
Some of the swelling has gone down, but the toes and bottom of my foot is still swollen. Do I have to make another doctor visit? Not cool if I do. Hate it. I have been treating with Hot water bottle etc. I assume it’s not an infection, because there are no other outward signs.
Regardless, the swelling and numbness of the foot, are a true set back.
The prognosis is that I need 3 more weeks before I can even attempt to put the slightest pressure on my foot. 20lb the doctor said. (Wow, 20 whole pounds. at that rate I will be walking by Christmas 2006.) I go back for the follow up in 4 weeks from last Thursday.
I do my exercise to build up the thigh muscle and extend and bend the knee to accomplish the full range of motion.
What troubles me is the timeline for me getting back on tow legs and walking etc. My life is about motion, action. Being stagnate is hard, and a real strain on everything. I am an independent person and having to be waited on, is a hassle. I know it is a hassle and major strain and pain on the ones that are Waiting on me. ( thank you again if I haven’t said it enough :) )
Any one else out there with some back stories they wish to Share? Please comment. Or you can send me an email to my gmail account egehler@gmail.com.
I look forward to you comments and stories. What is your experience or what have you noticed?
