More Knee Injuries in the Olympics:

Norway’s Kjetil Andre Aamodt missed the men’s combined event Tuesday because of a painful knee injury. Aamodt, the defending Olympic gold combined winner, was hurt during the downhill race on Sunday, injuring his knee early during a jump. He was able to complete the race and nearly won a medal, finishing fourth. The veteran is expected to return to the slopes for the super-G on Saturday.

American skier Lindsey Kildow was released from a hospital Tuesday after spending the night for observation following her crash during training for the women’s downhill. Despite a bruised hip and other soreness, she will be on the official start list for the downhill on Wednesday. Kildow was hurt Monday. She caught an edge heading into a jump and landed with her legs split apart, then fell hard on her hip and slid into the protective netting. After being stabilized and taken off the slope on a sled, Kildow was airlifted by helicopter to a hospital in Torino. Tests revealed a severe hip contusion, but x-rays and CT-scans were normal. She was walking around Monday afternoon.

Caroline Lalive is out of the Games after suffering a knee injury in a crash last month, and Kristina Koznick is uncertain if she’ll be able to compete in the Feb. 22 slalom after she partially tore ligaments in a knee.
