Louisville center David Padgett underwent arthroscopic knee surgery Monday in New York City to repair damage in his left knee.
Padgett averaged 11.8 points and 6.1 rebounds in 24 games for the Cardinals, but his season ended following a loss to Syracuse on Feb. 18.
 Â
Padgett originally hurt the knee in a preseason scrimmage in November and the knee worsened as the season went on. Louisville coach Rick Pitino pulled Padgett out of practice on Feb. 20 and decided to stop playing him rather than risk further injury.
The Cardinals (18-11) open the Big East tournament on Wednesday against No. 15 Pittsburgh (21-6) at Madison Square Garden.
