Knee Surgery set for UCLA QB Patrick Cowan

February 17th, 2008 · No Comments

UCLA quarterback Patrick Cowan hopes to be ready for spring practice after undergoing knee surgery on Friday morning.

Cowan, who will be entering his senior season in 2008, underwent an arthroscopic procedure to remove a small piece of torn cartilage in his left knee.

His status for spring practice, which begins in April, is not known, but Cowan insisted: “I’ll be alright.”

The native of Surrey, British Columbia, became the Bruins starting quarterback last season after an injury to Ben Olson in midseason.

In five starts, he completed 72-of-135 passes for 696 yards and four touchdowns with two interceptions for the Bruins, who finished 6-7.
